腐っても鯛(Sea bream is sea bream even if it goes bad.)．．．、か。It doesn't make any sense if just translated into English...

無難なのはやはり　金　だろうか。
It's safe to say it's gold, isn't it?

なので、鯛ではなく金に焦点をあてて書き直してみました。
So I re-wrote one in English by using gold instead of sea bream.

腐っても鯛
Gold stays gold even if it's in the mud. （泥にまみれても金は金）

どんなもんでしょうか？
