先日地蔵盆に行ってきました。
I went to a traditional Monzen event called "Jizo-bon".
毎年ダイスの恒例行事です。
It's my annual must event.
行ってみて思うんですが、これってハロウィンにそっくりだな、って。
I always overlap this event with Halloween custom.
ハロウィンだと、　他人の家に行く　→　ドアをノックする　→　お菓子くれないといたずらするぞと脅迫する　→　お菓子をもらう。
In Halloween, kids go to houses, knock the doors, make threats saying "Trick or Treat!", and then they get sweets.
地蔵盆だと、　お寺に行く　→　さい銭　→　お参り　→　お菓子をもらう。



In Jizo-bon, kids go to temples, toss some coins, pray and get sweets.
大人になってももらえるのが地蔵盆のうれしいところですね☆
What I like about Jizo-bon is that even adults can get sweets ;-)
門前に住んでる子どもたちを見習って、来年に向けて１円玉や５円玉をためようかな（笑）
Probably, I should think about starting saving some 1-yen coins and 5-yen coins for Jizo-bon next year like all Monzen kids do.

本日の　ちょっとリッチな英会話レッスンの　雰囲気です♩
This is a picture to show you the atmosphere of the Elegant English Lesson.

青りんごをふんだんに使ったアップルパイ。心地よいさっぱりとした酸味が絶妙でした☆しかも焼きたて！
We had fresh-baked apple pie in which quite a bit of green apple (It's rare in Japan) is used. I liked its fresh and comfortable sourness and sweetness at perfect balance.

次回は　９月１４日（木）１４：００〜１５：３０　です♩

これが正真正銘のかき氷 ＠ 長門屋
This is a genuine shaved ice.

器の底にシロップが溜まっているので、下の方から掘ってシロップをつけながら食べ進むのがベストかと。Since the syrup is at the bottom of the bowl, I'll recommend you start digging at the bottom part first ;-)

昨日は　モリヤランド　というイベントに　ダイスと英語であそぼう　というイベント出演をさせていただきました。
I got invited as a guest performer(?) to provide with English lessons to all age as a part of an event called "Moriya Land" yesterday.

０歳から１２歳くらいまで対応できる準備をしていきました。
I prepared enough materials for kids between 0 year old and 12 years old just in case.

２歳から５歳くらいのお子さんが大多数でした☆
Majority of participants was kids aged around 2 to 5.

はらぺこあおむし　は大盛況でした！
They loved The Very Hungry Caterpillar story!

作りましたよ、お菓子のおうち☆
We made it! We made a house made of sweets ;-)

今回は八名も集まったので、外見的には二階建てのおうちができました♫
Since we were eight of us, we were able to build a two-story house. Of course, appearance only though...

次回はお菓子のお城に挑戦しようかな〜♪(´ε｀ )
Maybe we'll try a sweet castle next time ;-)

外国語習得と演劇練習は似ていると思う。
Learning a language and practicing a play are similar.

一番大事なことは、その言葉を発する当事者になりきれるかどうかということ。
Keyword for the both is that you have to speak as whoever you have to be.

つまり、言葉を発する以上それは自分のセリフとして発せられなくてはならないということ。
That means whatever you have to say is your own words once they are spoken.

喜怒哀楽は両方に必要不可欠だということ。
Emotions like happy, angry, sad or fun are critical to do without.

門前には日本バージョンのハロウィン的な行事があります♫
We have a Halloween-like event in the Monzen are, which is very traditional one indeed ;-)

夜７時位から門前のお寺が赤い提灯を灯して、参拝者にお菓子を振舞うという子どもたちにはかなり嬉しいイベント☆
It's a very happy event for kids. Many temples with red lanterns serve sweets or snacks to every visitors. It starts around 7 in the evening ;-)

昔蛾の怪獣を モスラ って呼んでたの一体なんでだろう？って思ってました。
I was wondering why they called a monster looking like a moth "Mosla".

蛾は英語で moth って言うんですね〜♫

火は危険だ、だから遠ざける。
Fire is dangerous, so you keep it away.

火事になるかもしれないから、火は使わせない。
To avoid fire you won't let them use it.

やけどすると大変だから、火に触らせない。
You won't let them touch fire because it hurts to do so.

これって、火の怖さを知っている子どもたちの人口をどんどん減らしていってはいないだろうか。
Don't these ideas end up with less and less population knowing how to cope with fire.

観光英会話　「そこまでどのくらいかかるの？」



今回は、所要時間をたずねる会話をご紹介しました☆

A: "How far is it?"
B: "It's + 時間 + 交通手段."
時間でよく言うのが、 5, 10, 15, 30, 45 minutes や 1 hour, an hour and a half (１時間半) で、
あとは交通手段で "drive, walk, bus ride, train ride" を時間の後につければそれでOK☆

夏ごろから出張レッスンや出張英会話イベントが増えた。
I've got more and more on-site English lessons and events since this summer.

これって、ダイスにとってものすごく嬉しいことなんです♪
This is a very pleasant matter for me.

決まった曜日、決まった時間に行うレッスンと違って、刺激に満ちています☆
It's so stimulating being different from regular lessons at same time and same day.

鍛えられます;-)
It trains me a lot ;-)

普段わたしたちが使っているカタカナ言葉、日本語じゃないのは分かってるけど、じゃぁ何語？　っていうことありませんか？
We use so many Katakana words in our daily lives.
Japanese characters consist of three types, chinese origin ones, Hiragana and Katakana.
We often use Katakana characters for refering to words from foreign languages.
We know it's not Japanese, but we often encounter origin-unknown words.

カレーのルーの　ルー　って何語？　って今日ふと思い調べてみました。
I looked up on the Internet to find out what language "loo (spelled soundwise)" is from.
We use the word "loo" for meaning "sauce mix cube", by the way.

結局ルーはフランス語なんですね。
It turned out to be spelled "roux" in French, but it's been pronounced "loo" in Japanese.

そして英語では何ていうかというと、 sauce mix cube　というそうです。
So, it's called "sauce mix cube" in English, then. Case closed!

炭火ってすごいなーって思います。
I think charcoal heat is awesome.



６００℃って想像もつかないほどの熱です。
600 degrees celcius is an incredible amount of heat.



炭火の力を借りて今夜はビーフシチューを作りました♪
I cooked beef stew tonight using charcoal heat.



最初に野菜を炒めるはずが、みるみるうちに野菜から水分が出てきて煮物状態に（笑）
I put chopped vegetables to stir-fry first, but soon water came out of them and it looked like a stew already LOL

天然水も使いました♪
I used natural water, too ;-)



やはり、最高においしかったです☆
Every efforts turned out to be my time of pleasure after all :-) 

しばらく更新していませんでしたが、ダイス菜園は決して荒れ放題ではありません！
I haven't renewed the private vegetable garden part of my blog though, that doesn't mean I haven't taken care of it until today!

ニンジンの花を見ることができました☆
Now I can see the flower of carrot ;-)

普段ニンジン農家でないかぎり見ることのないにんじんの花、キレイです♪
It's very beautiful. I don't think you normally see it unless you are growing carrots.
