Here's a piece of advice I got today.
今日得た助言。
Let go off your hands when you feel you have no control over something.
どうしようもなくなったら、思い切って手を放してみる。
If you do that, the rest will be dealt with by time.
そうすれば、自然と時間が解決してくれる。
Time can hurt you, but it can also heal you.
時間で人は傷つくし、そして癒すこともある。
Hands off.
ただ、手を放すだけ。

他人を巻き込まずに生きていくことなんてできやしない。
Your life is here because over thousands of people have been involved already.
今こうして生きていること自体、もうすでに何千人以上もの人たちが人生に関わっているのだから。

今さら突然その関わりを絶ちたいなんてどういうこと？
Oh, that's insane. Give me a break.
そんなの正気じゃないし、そろそろ正直勘弁してほしい。
How dare you make your world smaller again after all the troubles?
これだけ人を巻き込んできたことで広がってきた視野を、わざわざ狭めてしまうの？
You are born to get us involved and cause us troubles.
人は、人を巻き込み、そして迷惑をかけるために生まれてきているようなもの。
I say this again.
だからもう一度だけ言うよ。
No involvement or troubles with others means that you are not here.
他人を巻き込まない、人に一切迷惑をかけないなんて、つまりそこに人は存在しないということ。
You are here.
そこに君は存在するから。
So, here I am.
だから僕もここにいる。
I am just one of them. That's it.
そして、僕は君にとって他人の１人でしかない。それだけのこと。


 

At the end of the day, it's how you define "growth".
結局のところ、成長をどうとらえるかによるのかもしれない。

You can measure it anyhow.
どうにか成長を測ることはできる。

A prize can represent how far you come along.
どれだけ進んできたかを象徴する何かを手に入れるということもある。

It's different depending on who looks at it.
人の見方によっても違ってくる。

Growth within cannot be seen as long as it's looked in the form of a prize.
ただ、物という形で成長を見ている限り、内なる成長はきっと見えない。

Kids aren't there to satisfy our never ending regrets.
子どもたちは、大人が成し得なかった夢を叶えたり、過去の際限のない後悔を改めさせるためにいるのではない。

They are "keys" to future.
子どもたちは、未来への「鍵」だと思う。

That's them who find the key holes.
そして、それぞれの鍵穴を見つけていくのは子どもたちだと思う。

I finally found what was missing in my classroom.
今の教室に欠けているものが見つかりました。

It's a small room for my students to study or rest even when other lessons are going on.
他のレッスンが行われていても、生徒が自由に勉強したり休んだりできる小さな部屋。

Basic privacy is protected so that whoever uses it can go to the bathroom without being seen by others.
基本的なプライバシーが守られかつ、誰にも見られることなくトイレに行かれるのも特徴だ。

It's because we can't do without it.

It's the only place where we can feel safe and refresh our minds.

There's nowhere to go if we lose one.

We all get to live alone and become independent eventually though.

人はみんなこの２種類に分かれる。生きることを選ぶ人と、死ぬことを選ぶ人だ。

We all die someday though, until the time comes, we choose one way or the other.
人はいつか死ぬ。その日が来るまで、人はどちらかを選ぶのだ。

As long as we live, quite a bit of others get involved.
生きている限り、かなりの数の他人を巻き込むことになる。

When the flame of the candle is about to go off, it's when all the connections with others disappear.
命の炎が消えようとするとき、これまで巻き込んだ人たちとの繋がりは消えてしまう。

A life with no one involved is equivallent to death.
誰一人他人を巻き込まない生は、すなわち死だ。

You can get as many people as you can involved in your life.
君は、できるだけ多くの人たちを君の人生に巻き込むことができる。

It's just the matter of the quality of the involvement.
注意するのは、巻き込んだ人たちへの敬意を失わないことだ。

Cherish whoever get involved.
そしてその人たちへの感謝を忘れないことだ。


 

Can you keep watching a plant without watering?
水をやらずに植物をただ見守り続けることはできるのだろうか？
Of course, no.
答えばノーだ。
No matter how careful you treat it, it will die if you don't water it.
どんなに大事にしていても、水をやらなかったら死んでしまう。
The problem is, so it will even if you give too much water.
ただ難しいのは、水をやり過ぎでも、植物は枯れてしまうことだ。
Once it sprouts, it grows by absorbing water and nutrients from the soil surrounding it.
芽がでたら、周りの地面から水や栄養を吸収して成長していく。
That's what it does. Not doing so results in death.
それが生きるということ。その逆はすなわち死だ。
Growing goes with pain and gets surroundings involved.
成長は痛みをともなうし、自然と周囲を巻き込むものだ。
What do you ashamed of growing?
成長することに、何を恥じることがあるだろうか？

メールやラインで連絡をとるのではなく、実際に相手と話して初めて自分の発言の影響力がわかる。

Dopamine plays a very important role to make teenagers reckless and fearless.
ドーパミンは10代の向こう見ずなところ、怖いもの知らずなところにかなり大きく関わってくるようだ。
They look so unbalanced in that they have quite mature opinions and, at the same time, they say things as if they have no consideration for risks.
とても大人びた意見を持っている一方で、全く後先を考えないような発言をするアンバランスさが見え隠れする。
Dopamine makes their brain not to think too deeply about consequences.
ドーパミンが脳に働きかけ、リスクや末路についてあまり深く考えないようにしてしまう。
That's totally healthy for them.
しかし、それはごく健全なことのようだ。
We just have to encourage them to think things on their own.
10代に考えを押しつけるのではなく、自分自身で考える機会をなるべく多く与えるべきだと思う。

You meet somebody and say good-bye to him or her for a reason.
出会いと別れには、それなりに理由があるような気がする。

There are two types of people in this kind of situations.
その出会いと別れによって、2種類の人々に分かれる。

One moves on and another one stops there.
進む人と、そこで止まってしまう人だ。

I just personally think that I feel so sorry for these events if you don't move on.
個人的には、成長に繋がらないんだったら、その出会いや別れに申し訳ないと思う。

You move on no matter what.
何があったって、進まなきゃいけない。

That's how you appreciate for meetings and good-byes.
それが、出会いや別れに対するせめてもの感謝だと思う。

明日というパンチが頭めがけて飛んできたとしても、それをかわすことはできない。

It, on the other hand, is standing right in front of you unguarded, so why don't you throw as many punches as possible?
一方、相手はまるで無防備だ。だから、何発でも気が済むまでパンチを打ち込めばいい。

Tomorrow will eventually get on its feet though, lots of points are on your side already.
明日はきっと立ち上がってくるに違いない。だが確実にポイントでは相手を上回っているはずだ。
