I've been teaching from Kids English to Business English, and to a reading comprehension of business contract documents.

割と中学生の文法クラスを指導することもあるんですが、「～するっていう動詞はなんですか？」と聞くと、たいてい沈黙が返ってきます。
I have several English Grammar classes for junior high school students though, when I ask my students how to say "do" in English, I usually receive an answer, which is called "silence".

個人的には、他の動詞を紹介する前に　「Do ～する」　を説明したほうがいいと思ったりもします。　Be 動詞　と　Do 動詞、これらの違いを充分に理解してからじゃないと、play / like / go / make といった動詞の使い方を効果的に習得できないのでは？と思います。
Personally, we should introduce "Do" as a primary verb that students should learn before we do other verbs. They should first understand the difference between Be verb and Do verb so that they can move onto the next level by learning "play / like / go / make". Otherwise I don't think they can master how to use those verbs.

結構あるんですよ、Do を使う場面が。
We actually have many occasions to use Do.

I do my homework.　私は自分の宿題をします。
Can you do me a favor?　ちょっとお願いがあるんですが、いいですか？
What are you doing?　あなたは何をしているんですか？
What do you do?　あなたのご職業は？
I have something to do.　私にはすることがあるんです。
That will do.　それならいいでしょう。
Do your best.　ベストを尽くして。
I can't do without you.　あなた無しにはやっていけない。

こういったフレーズに出てくる Do という動詞をもっと時間を割いて教えればいいのにと思いながら、普段は Do 動詞の基本しかこっそり教えることができないでいます（笑）
Even though I think I should teach lots of things about Do verb, I have little chance to teach the only basic of it on my regular teaching routine... ;-)
