備長炭という名前は以前から知っていた。
I knew this name "binchotan charcoal".

高級な炭という印象が強く、いままでいわゆる「安い炭」を使っていた。
I had a strong impression that it's an expensive and high quality charcoal, so I've been using, so to speak, "cheap charcoal".

この炭、どうやら鉄より硬いらしい．．．
This charcoal seems to be harder than steel...

炭同士で叩いてみると、金属音がする。
I hear a metal sound if I hit them together.

この炭はあくまで端切れだけれど、品質は一緒。
It's just a remnant of it though, its quality is as good as premium ones.

いままで使っていた炭の倍は火力があります。
Its heat is as twice strong as the previous one.

ま、燃えちゃえば一緒か（笑）
